Every year, my husband and i go on a vacay to reconnect. This year, we decided to go to san Antonio. We both have been to san Antonio in the past and didn’t want to do touristy things, we only wanted to relax and chill. I did some research and found that there were a handful of resorts in san Antonio and since we wanted to do fun things together, we needed a resort that has great amenities on site. After reading some reviews on trip advisor, we decided to go with Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa http://www.hillcountry.regency.hyatt.com and i can tell you we didnt regret it 🙂 We booked through Expedia (www.expedia.com) .
We arrived on a friday night. We had to check in with security before we were allowed on the property. After that, we drove to the entrance and concierge helped us put our luggage on a cart. (You can either self park or valet park). Upon entering the lobby, it was something out of a movie. There was a gorgeous chandelier hanging in the entrance that welcomed us plus a beautiful scent that made us feel immediately at home. We went to check in and then went to our room. Our preferred grounds access king room with balcony was very clean and had a tv, leather arm chair, hair dryer, tea/coffee maker, iron, fridge, free wifi, complimentary water bottles and in room dinning. After unpacking, we went to grab dinner at one of the restaurants on site called Charlie’s Long Bar which is a restaurant/ sports bar. I ordered a good ol’ texas burger with fries while my husband ordered a quesadilla and we watched a basketball game while we ate.
On saturday morning, we had breakfast at an Ihop close to the resort and then we headed out to see the property. We took a walk round the resort, it is beautifully nestled in the Texas hill country with beautiful trees and jogging trails. There are several amenities that include a golf course, pool, lazy river, hot tub, water slide, kid’s playground, spa, gym, game room, complimentary bike rental, movies on the lawn, kid’s club, sand volleyball etc. My husband rode a bike around the property (i can’t ride 🙁 and then we went into the lazy river, the water was cold but then it got better. It was fun floating on the river with tubes. We played some water volleyball as well and then we went into the hot tub. The water was very warm and relaxing. After a little while, we went to the playground area and played a little “touch” soccer. Later, we decided to see the gym and the game room since they are located on the other side of the property. As we were walking there, a lady at the guest services desk stopped us and was asking us about where we came from and how we were enjoying our stay. She proceeded to tell us that Hyatt Resort we were staying at has a sister property across the street and they would like for us to tour it if we liked and that they would give us something for our time. She gave us two options of either getting resort credit or hyatt gold points. We opted for hyatt gold points 🙂
On Sunday morning, we checked out. Our tour was set for 9am. We got to the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch https://wildoakranch.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html and met with one of their sales persons. She was very pleasant and quickly let us know that we were there for a timeshare sales presentation though there was no obligation to buy. She explained how it works and even showed us some of the rooms on their property. It lasted about 2 hours and even though it seemed like a good idea, we decided not to purchase at the time.
They did however give us 15,000 Hyatt gold points which was very generous of them and for that, we are appreciative 🙂
All in all, the Resort is great, the staff was nice and helpful, there was plenty to do so if you are ever in the San Antonio area, do not hesitate to stay at either of their properties. We plan on going back soon and taking the kids too 🙂
